Organic Agriculture — The right way to Advancement

Seeing our society from yesteryear centuries as much as the current, it is quite definitely evident that there are several developments that took place. As a result of these developments, life is now complicated. As a result of complication, individuals have overlooked the difficulties brought about by developments due to the glittering gold and silver that supposed developments offer.

Among the difficulties that have been overlooked for yesteryear decades are environmentally friendly problems which are becoming worse since the years passed by. Several environmental problems which we are facing today are the results of agricultural malpractices as a result of not enough education.

Among environmentally friendly problems may be the continuous destruction of the soil due to excessive use of inorganic fertilizers which includes กรมส่งเสริมการเกษตร resulted to soil infertility. An evidence to justify this fact may be the gradual extinction of wild plants of before, just sprout from the soil without human interventions. Another problem may be the contamination of the water source and air due to excessive use of pesticides and other chemicals which are now being used to spray the plants. As a result, clean water are becoming lesser which also subscribe to the spread of communicable diseases. One thing more, may be the increasing amount of pests and diseases to both plants and animals and even humans. Because of most these problems, some folks from the agricultural industry propose organic agriculture believing that this would at least lessen these problems.

Organic agriculture is really a holistic production management that discourages the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and genetically modified organisms. Purposively, it’d subscribe to the lessening of air soil and water pollutions, and maximizes the fitness of the interdependent communities of plants animals and humans. This means that there must be a balance in the environment whereby none of these living organisms would out number the other. This is because through organic agriculture, the lives of the beneficial micro-organisms are preserved to prevent the flourishing of pests and diseases that destroy the said interdependent communities. They are called interdependent communities because as the phrase “interdependent” imply, plants, animals and humans rely on each other in order to survive. Plants emit oxygen and food to humans and animals. On the other hand, animals and humans emit carbon dioxide and waste products for the plants to use in food processing or photosynthesis. Another thing to be given attention is the total amount amount of preys and predators in the environment. Put simply the foodstuff chain cycle should not be disturbed because if that will happen there’ll be described as a dominance of 1 population which brings about food scarcity for the other population. For example, if the farmers continuously use synthetic pesticides, small organisms will soon be killed which brings about growing amount of pests because no other organisms that could eat them. Due to this, plants that serve as the foodstuff for humans and animals will soon be destroyed by these pests. That’s why organic agriculture is said to be the solution for food scarcity in the future to come.

For organic agriculture in the future in reality, farmers should really be educated about the appropriate practices in agriculture. In reality, in the Philippines, there are certain radio programs and television programs allotted for the promotion of organic agriculture. Other than that, seminars may also be conducted by experts in agriculture. There are also cooperatives which can be being established to focus on the wants and address the difficulties of the farmers. Other than that are the various government programs which can be implemented to different regions of the country. But most importantly may be the cooperative effort one of the sectors in the society in promoting and supporting the implementation of organic agriculture practices. One of the sectors in the society which should exert more effort may be the education sector with the facilitation of educational institutions especially with State universities or any university that provides agricultural courses.
